A deep understanding of the political landscape and credible intelligence are keys to a successful government affairs strategy.  Companies depend on predictability and value knowing the timing and key drivers effecting public policy decisions.

The Business-Government Relations Council (B-GRC) was founded in 1966 to facilitate the exchange of best practices in government affairs with emphasis on legislation and regulation.  Since its founding, B-GRC has evolved into a premier organization, which facilitates dialogues essential to the policymaking process.  B-GRC’s member-driven mission is simple:

  • Bring government affairs professionals together with leaders in government, media and industry to facilitate dialogue and private exchanges of views and concerns; and,
  • Hold networking events to share best practices across the membership, with emphasis on how to ensure private industry input leads to better policy outcomes.

B-GRC has grown from a best-practices, peer development organization into one that fosters meaningful dialogue for government affairs executives with policymakers, other public sector officials and key opinion leaders.  The organization is a unique space for government affairs executives to contribute to policy debates of importance to their companies.  In short, B-GRC helps its members stay informed, engaged and poised for success.

Founded 1966

In October, 1966, the heads of the Washington offices of GE, Goodyear and US Steel established the Business-Government Relations Council as a (501)(c)(6) not for profit organization. The Council’s core mission was to promote a better understanding of the roles of the business community and the federal government in national affairs, and to help its members develop and implement best practices in the field of government relations.
